Vladimír is a mathematician and statistician, a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. He is currently focusing on the cost-effectiveness of health technologies, HTA, health systems research and other public health issues. In the past, he also worked in the areas of mathematical foundations of quantum theory, genetic resources of cultivated plants, chemical and biomedical engineering. He is the author of more than 140 publications in prestigious journals and proceedings of scientific conferences. In 2007-2012 he was the Vice-Dean for Science and International Relations of the FBMI CTU and served on a number of editorial and scientific boards. Together with his wife Hana, he translated fiction and professional books from English and German (eg George Orwell, Adam Smith, Werner Lansburgh, Ludwig von Mises).
