Our team took an active part in the 39th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2026), held on 3–5 June 2026 in Limassol, Cyprus. As part of the OP JAK project Ageing-CZ, we presented a framework based on reinforcement learning that can dynamically allocate oncology patients between complex and regional oncology centres, even under unfavourable operational conditions such as the limited capacity of complex centres.
The paper, titled “Reinforcement Learning Framework for Patient Allocation Between Complex and Regional Oncology Centres in Czechia”, was presented by Ondřej Klempíř; the co-authors are Gleb Donin and Aleš Tichopád of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague.
CBMS is one of the leading international platforms at the intersection of medicine and computer science. Each year it brings together a multidisciplinary community of clinicians, researchers, engineers, and developers who share the latest advances and discuss challenges in the field of computer-based medical systems. This year’s edition — already the 39th — was held in person at the St. Raphael Resort in Limassol.
